Aprea AB develops target specific drugs for the treatment of cancer with non- functional p53, associated with resistance to conventional cytostatics. Aprea's Investigational Product, APR-246, is in clinical Phase I. The inclusion has started in June 2009 with patients with refractory hematologic malignancies or prostate carcinoma. Aprea is seeking partners for co-development for Phase II. Several patent applications for APR-246 and backup compounds have been granted in the EU, US, and several other countries. The company was founded in March 2003 by Prof. Klas Wiman, Assoc. Prof. Galina Selivanova, and collegues, and the main owners are Karolinska Development, Industrifonden, Östersjöstiftelsen and Praktikerinvest.
